Gatlinburg Chili Cook Off November 5

The Chili Cook-off in Gatlinburg was a hit before it even started. The line for tickets at the corner of the Mountain Mall toward Ripley's Aquarium ended past the Wendy's before 5:00 PM. The whole event stretched out from the plaza at Ripley's Aquarium down to River Road which was closed off for a long way down to hold all the entertainment and tents. Chefs from all around Sevier County set up to serve - from TGIFridays, Westgate Resort, Elks Lodge and Walters State Community College, among many others, all set up to contribute chili to benefit Pi Beta Phi PTA.

Entertainment consisted of local favorite The Griffin Bros playing on stage early in the event, followed by The Coasters and Barry Scott & Second Wind. There was face painting for the children (and apparently some of the adults) and an inflatable tent seemingly giving away candy bars and M&Ms by the boxfuls. There was plenty to do around the Aquarium as well and everyone in earshot danced and grooved to the music and just plain enjoyed themselves celebrating the start of Winterfest. Great turn out, great entertainment, and great chili as usual from the Winter Magic Kickoff and Chili Cookoff in Gatlinburg.
